Authorative Guides
It is important to use the best available books and guides when teaching oneself or others the practice of yoga. There are a great many modern yoga teachers and authors who have created their own "brands" of yoga in order to have books and DVDs published. We would recommend that you stick to the classic texts to gain a firm foundation and to ensure correctness in the postures and a safe practice. The authors of these books have devoted their lives to the study, practice and refinement of yoga.

For the most authoratitive guides to the performance of yoga asana (poses) and pranayama (breath control), few would argue that BKS Iyengar and his family provide the classic texts upon which most other modern forms of yoga are based.

Iyengar books:

  • "Light on Yoga" - BKS Iyengar
  • "Light on Pranayama" - BKS Iyengar
  • "Yoga - The Path to Holistic Health" - BKS Iyengar
  • "Yoga - A Gem for Women" - Geeta Iyenga
